I explore the generation of images through the inseparable relationship between structure, color, and material, focusing on the inherent woven structures of tapestry. From a distance, the woven surface is perceived as a single image. As the viewer approaches, however, the image is reduced to the intersections of threads and the underlying woven structure, bringing the material and rhythm of the textile to the fore. When one steps back again, the structure once more generates an image. Image and structure thus continue to emerge and re-emerge through changes in viewing distance.

In recent years, I have been exploring states of “in-betweenness” that emerge through the coexistence of different images, using textile patterns as a point of departure. Each image maintains its own presence without merging with the other, while coexisting within the woven structure and generating between them a fluctuation and spatiality that cannot be reduced to a single image. I see in this an expressive possibility unique to tapestry.

私は、タペストリー固有の織構造に着目し、構造・色彩・素材が不可分に結び付くことで生まれる像の生について探究している。遠景では、織られた画面は一つの像として知覚される。しかし近づくにつれて、その像は　糸の交差や織構造へと還元され、素材やリズムが前景化する。そして再び距離を置くと、構造は像を生成する。像と構造は、距離の変化の中で絶えず生成され続ける。

近年は、テキスタイルパターンを手がかりに、異なる像が共存することで生まれる「あいだ」の状態を探っている。それぞれの像は融合することなく、固有の存在を保ちながら織構造の中で共存し、そのあいだに単一の像には還元できない揺らぎや空間を生み出す。そこに、タペストリーならではの表現の可能性を感じている。
